A wonderful night to you all out there
everything in the house falls asleep, the headphones are at hand, the Vivaldi playlist is ready to go, the coffee cup is filled and ready for use, the keyboard is preheated – I’ll punch the keys, let’s start with a review!
To cheek itself (cheek is only the manufacturer’s brand name), the company is completely called Shantou Wange Educational Material Sci-Tech co., Ltd. Or in Chinese: 万 格 文教 科技 实业 有限公司. Chinese company names are always awesome (consider Xingbao …) for us westerners.
So I’m drifting back to the set now. What strikes me when researching this set is that there is no longer any mention of their architecture sets on the website, which confuses me a bit, since they are still listed in Catalog 2020 and very prominently as the first row in the catalog together with the other big buildings of cheek. China, the Internet, news updates, etc. are always such a thing.
At some point I’m really starting to learn standard Chinese, our hobby almost screams for it …
So, Wange would like to inform us that the building should be in this form in London, Great Britain, Wange does not really give precise details. You can see it clearly on the phone booth and on other printed tiles (go into that later). The building came out in 2018, together with the grandiose coffee house (cheek 6310) and the old China Hotel (cheek 6312) . I do not count the French country house (cheek 5311) among the three buildings, since there are less than 1,500 parts.
I can’t explain it any other way.
Incidentally, it is not modular and it also can not be opened, even if you saw hinge plates on the back.
However, as with every cheek set: No stickers !! All prints !!
But, you have to cheek, they brought out three debris in one fell swoop in 2018.
I think I’m going to unboxing right now.
Attention here comes a box! Don’t be surprised, my angel helped me.
When the parcel drivers arrive, there is a rush to the door in the hope that colorful stones will be there again. (Pavlovian reflex).
That was what I wanted. A nice box, I’m one of the people who keep the boxes (as long as possible).
So the back. Yes, the angel knows exactly what will be built later.
The box design has something for me, so I almost bite myself in the very least that I ordered the coffee house in China at the time.
The grip is good because the contents including cardboard weigh something.
Please note the left side, the picture goes with the edge. Yes, double-decker buses point to London.
In the comments on the review by brickmeupscottie, several people confirm that the building has no role model.
I would have been amazed, extremely. Which building authority accepts this ?!
I like it when you put a lot of emphasis on the packaging. It makes up a large part of the anticipation.
The usual stop, no children between the ages of zero and three years old, Taoist logos with Ying-Yang in green, some triskeles, etc. pp.
What immediately catches my eye is that the company name differs here: Shantou VeryFun Toys & Nursery Co. Ltd. and a copyright of 2014.
Short foreword, before I go into the content: Be aware that you will read “Shantou-Style” very often here. Shantou-Style describes the construction without sections and without numbered bags. The name “Shantou-Style” comes from the city of Shantou, where almost all China bricks are made (and probably most of the toys worldwide come from there). So if you only have Lego, the clones of it or manufacturers like Xingbao, who have also got to know a sorting of building sections … You are going to set a steep learning curve here. Certainly.
The art now is to sort the stones so that you will know your way around later. Simply pouring it into plates / bowls is done quickly, but you will spend ages on each construction step, looking for the parts and taking your joy away completely because there is no real system behind it.
Bricklink because a similar sorting technique (trans parts, tiles, plates, stones – and then divided by size) helped me the best.
In the end, you have to find out what suits you best from the sorting point of view (tip: don’t sort by color!).
It is not uncommon for some builders to get to know more about themselves here than they should actually be aware of (or master builder).
But what I can promise you – you take every single stone in your hand.
Understand the sorting work as part of the building fun and then you have already won.
Yes, is a little something. And nothing with phase section sorting!
I distributed 23 bags here on the dining table (the bags may be sturdy! Nothing thin, crackling, high quality!).
So far, I haven’t had a baseplate with 24×48.
The angel wanted a plane … The black parts separators are from cheek, one of them was here (I had one from last time) – then quickly doubled a plane together.
Intermediate status from sorting, in the end there were 42 bowls.
I do not show any more pictures of the sorting shop, you can roughly imagine how this works. I needed about 1 1 / 2h to 2h for the work.
Yes, the instructions are very similar to the box on the front.
Here it is printed in landscape format, but …
… – short interruption – bound in brackets – …
… however, the instructions themselves are in portrait format. Sometimes I don’t get my cheek.
Otherwise, the instructions follow the principle of graying out previous construction steps.
Brief introduction from cheek to the set, here the back of the cover. The text is also on the coffee house. Yawn.
The printing unit has 70 pages. Also fine, cheek always has a table of contents of all parts in the set. If you should miss a part (which can happen), you can check again here after your count whether something is missing.
The set has 71 construction steps, with 2332 parts quite sporty – The Dane probably brings the famous phone books here, while Wange manages perfectly with 66 out of 70 pages.
This is construction step two, that’s what typical cheek construction steps look like.
193 parts, especially in the first construction steps, it really gets down to business. Otherwise, step 1 consists of laying down the baseplate
Oh, I’m pretty much through unboxing and instructions and on the fly went into construction. There are no other figures here
For construction, I will get you something interesting!
Step three will see these hinge plates for the first time (where two 2×2 plates are connected by a joint and can move horizontally).
They have zero function and probably come from the planning phase, where the building is supposed to be opened here similar to the coffee house.
Build this “bump” inside, then it does not interfere with the optics and you can easily build another building on it, where otherwise the joints would have been disturbed by the hinge plates.
This is what construction step 4 looks like. For me, the set on the baseplate is not bending so high yet, but let’s see how it will be later.
With a 24×48 baseplate, this is an inherent risk.
The morning sun kisses the Pömpelmeister, no, the Pömpelmeister kisses the morning sun!
The first transclear part in step 7.
1x6x3, flat disc. Not roughly scratched, wasn’t packed separately, didn’t expect anything else.
Score for scratches? 3
These transclear discs even have cheek branding with “WG”.
Let’s see if that will happen more often in the coming years.
Transclear the second, construction step 8. Also like above, I will now generally not go into much detail, because the degree of scratching is so in the lower part of the middle class.
Sometimes over, but rarely under.
Unfortunately not a single Transclear part packed separately.
A word about the stones. They are true to color and have no inclusions, smear film or discoloration, but the finish could be better.
Incidentally, some manufacturers cannot get tan and have their difficulties there, so I deliberately chose tan.
There is something “homemade” when the stones look like that when you put them together. The plates and tiles, however, are excellent!
The stones are not bad, I like to build with my cheek. But a manufacturer like Qman has already left his competitor cheek behind.
But since there is always something happening on the Chinabrick market, the year 2020 will also be exciting with the improvements.
I interrupt the review at this point because of the maximum number of pictures, also the Pömpelmeister read the Levites of this Playtive gentleman. Have already earned it!
Tomorrow part 2 follows, it is now twenty to three and I still want to get some sleep.
Thank you for your attention for Part 1, I look forward to seeing you in the next part and wish you a pleasant night and good morning.
